The Top Ten Things I Will Miss If the 2011/12 NBA Season Is Cancelled – Part 1

I’m starting to get really nervous that there isn’t going to be a season this year.  We’ve lost all November games and the sides aren’t even talking anymore.  This is bad.

This Sucks

Last season was one of the best in recent memory and this season promised to be just as good if not better.  In preparation of the worst I put together a list of the top 10 things I will miss the most:

10.  The Timberwolves

Yes, the Timberwolves.  Ricky Rubio has finally arrived, they drafted Derrick Williams with the #2 pick and they have the best rebounder in the leage in Kevin Love.  Throw in complete wildcards like Beasley and Darko and I’m very intrigued by this team.  They aren’t going to compete for a championship, but they might be very fun to watch.

9. Fantasy Basketball

Every year I play fantasy basketball.  It gives me someone to root for or against in almost every game.  Now I have this great team lined up and it’s just going to sit there for who knows how long.  It’s extra painful this year because I finished in 2nd place last season and want a rematch.

8. Blake Griffin Dunks

This guy might be the most athletic player we’ve ever seen.

It's going to be a while before Mozgov gets the taste of this dunk out of his mouth

Almost every game he makes a jaw-dropping dunk.  Check out all 214 dunks he made last year.  Then remember he’s just 22 years old and those clips are from his ROOKIE season.  If we lost a season we’ll have been deprived of two of Blake’s first three seasons.

7. Ray Allen’s chance at becoming the first player to reach 3,000 3-point makes.

Ray Allen has the most 3-point makes in the history of the NBA with 2,612.  He now has a chance to become the first player ever to make 3,000 3-point shots.  He’s in crazy good shape, but he’d need to play about 80 games a season and hit 150 3′s for the next 3 years.  It could happen, but he’s 36 now and the chances of this happening seem a lot less likely when asking him to have a season like that at 40 years old.  The wheels are going to come off sooner rather than later.

6. The last chance for the Spurs and Celtics

I know we’ve said this the last 3 years about the Spurs, but Tim Duncan had the lowest scoring and rebounding totals of his entire career and his minutes only went down 3 minutes a game.  Losing a season will mean Duncan will be 36, Ginobili will be 35 and Jefferson will still be a disaster.  They will probably still be a playoff team but their days of competing for a championship will be over.

As it is the Celtics are going to have to spit in mother natures face and dodge the injury bug all season just to compete this year.  A year from now their starting lineup will be a 37 year old Ray Allen, a 36 year old Kevin Garnett, a 34 year old Jermaine O’Neal (for the 25 games he won’t be injured) and a 35 year old Paul Pierce.  Rondo will be the only started on the right side of 30.  Doesn’t sound like a championship team to me.
