Due to Scheduling Miscommunication Knicks Accidentally Thought They Had the Night Off

  • I think our listener Niro put it best when he said “There were two games this season that just disgusted me. The Houston game and the Houston game.”
  • I understand the Knicks were without Melo, Sheed, Shumpert, Amare and Camby, but they weren’t scheduled to be without Defense, good shooting, controlling the pace and taking care of the ball too.
  • There is a lot of talk about Lin and Harden not being able to play together, but they combined for 394,402,134 points on 97% shooting tonight (approximately) so maybe we shouldn’t jump to conclusions.
  • At least Chandler Parsons didn’t light the Knicks up again.
  • Copeland got 9 quick points to start the 3rd quarter and for a second I thought the Knicks were going to make a comeback, but then the Knicks decided it would be a good idea to let Harden shoot open 3’s the rest of the night.
  • I started this recap 5 minutes ago when the Knicks were down by 20 and they are now down by 27.
  • JR, I love when you go to bed early and have a great shooting game the next day, but can you try and make that happen in a game where you’re good shooting would actually make a difference?
  • I’m really glad the Knicks don’t have to play Houston again for at least 11 more months.
  • 10-1 at home is still really darn good.
  • Another positive is we can start to prepare for Copesanity.  He had a career high 29 points on 11-19 shooting.

Thoughts on tonights game Knicks at Raptors 10/19/12

  • Toronto for 3….Swish. Knicks for 3….Brick. Toronto for 3…Swish.  Knicks for 3….Brick.
  • Prigioni to STAT looks very promising.
  • Kyle Lowry was acquired for a draft pick.  Kyle Lowry is also excellent.  If the Knicks ever saved a draft pick we could have gotten in on that.
  • White and Copeland can play D.
  • Amar’e still can’t.
  • I’m really happy I drafted Bargnani
  • When Melo is off no one picked up the scoring load.  This could be a recurring problem throughout the season.
  • Not that Toronto is going to be great, but there are zero BAD teams in the Atlantic division for the first time since I can remember.
  • Someone other than Chandler needs to crash the boards.

Carmelo’s Quote from Knicks Media Day

“I don’t want that (scoring) role anymore. I can do it. It is what it is, that’s what I do best. But in order for this team to be successful with the guys that we have on this team right now, we need a more well-rounded team. So if I have to sacrifice doing some things out there on the offensive end I’m willing to do it.” – Carmelo Anthony

What does this really mean?

A.  Exactly what he said and we’ll see Melo 2.0 playing team ball.
B.  What he thinks we want to hear but in reality we’ll get Iso-Melo again.
C.  Anthony is now not going to try on both ends of the court.
D.  Other

Question of the Day 9/17/12

A lot of people have said they expect the Knicks to be a top 5 defensive team. Where do you think the Knicks will rank on offense compared to the rest of the league?

The Knicks show the Cavs how much they want to play the Heat in the playoffs

Welcome back Amar’e!  Glad to see you watched no tape on how to play defense while you were out.

I felt even more miserable than they look while watching this game.

With this loss the Knicks will now be playing the Heat or the Bulls in the first round instead of having a chance at playing the Pacers.  Here’s some notes on the game:

  • When Mike Bibby was your best player, and it’s not 2004-2006, you’re going to lose.
  • Amar’e is (still) a complete liability on defense
  • This is why an offense based on jacking up 3’s isn’t always a good idea
  • Why look for Melo, he’s only been averaging 30 points a game for a month, instead….
  • whoever gets the ball first just jack up a shot.  No one needs to try to get the rebound either, that would use up energy that can be spent on contested 20-30 foot shots.
  • I thought the Cavs were the team that was supposed to be tanking.
