Knick Effect 2016/17

I’m bringing the Knick Effect back.  In 2010/11,  2011/12,  2013/14,  and 2014/15 I kept a Knick Effect list.  What this is is a list of every player that has had his highest or second highest scoring game of the season against the Knicks.  I started this because it seems like every game some random guy on the bench is going off against the Knicks.  In 2010/11 there were 37 instances of the #Knickeffect and in 2011/12 there was an astounding 44.  In 2013/14 oddly enough the number went down to 31.  In 2014/15 the Knicks were back to their usual ways with 41. Lets see how long the list gets this year in the return of the #Knickeffect

Highest scoring game of the season

10/25/16 – Richard Jefferson – 13 points
10/29/16 – James Ennis – 16 points

11/22/16 – Ed Davis – 14 points
11/30/16 – Karl Anthony Towns – 47 points
12/9/16 – Luol Deng – 22 points
12/15/16 – Javale Mcgee – 17 points
12/31/16 – James Harden – 53 points

Knicks @ Hawks 11/8/14 – Game Recap

Written by William Lee

The New York Knicks lose their fourth straight game Saturday night, losing to the Atlanta Hawks 103-96.

Derek Fisher decided to go small against the Hawks, inserting Tim Hardaway Jr. in to the starting lineup in favor of Jason Smith. The strategical move looked great early on with the increased floor spacing freeing up Carmelo Anthony on offense, whom has struggled early on this season. Anthony started the game off strongly, making his first shot of the game. Anthony played extremely well in the first quarter, almost notching a double-double in the first twelve minutes of play with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Anthony strong start led the way for New York to an early 32-20 first quarter lead.

Curiously Fisher kept Anthony in the game to start the second quarter after playing the whole first quarter. Fisher thought better of it, and pulled him out a one minute into the second quarter. With Anthony on the bench, Atlanta shortly would go on an 8-0 run. By the time Anthony was subbed back into the game mid-way through the second quarter, the Knick’s lead which was at one point 15, was now cut down to one possession 38-35. With Anthony back in the game, the overall energy of the team seemed to have picked up, freeing the other Knicks up to score. New York would finish the quarter strong heading into the half with a 61-48 lead. Continue reading

Knicks @ Hawks – 2-22-14 – Game Recap

Written by William Lee

The New York Knicks came into Saturday night with a chance to gain a full game on the eight seed Atlanta Hawks. The task would be even more difficult than a typical back to back game, because the Knicks played extended minutes against the Orlando Magic the night before, with the game going into double overtime. Five players played over 40 minutes Friday night, with Carmelo Anthony going over the 50 minute mark.

Even though Anthony played extended minutes he was still able to have an effective shooting night, scoring 35 points, including four threes. Yet again though it would be another wasted well-played game from Carmelo Anthony as the Knicks fall to the Hawks 107-98. It was also a wasted night for Tyson Chandler who was a man possessed on the glass, collecting 23 rebounds. As great as this performance was, it should be noted that Atlanta is the fourth worst rebounding team in the league with 40.7 per game.
