HOLY CRAP KNICKS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it was only the first of 82 games but I am freakin ecstatic that Knicks won tonight. No disrespect to the Nets – there will be plenty of time to disrespect the Nets later in the year – but beating Miami was so much cooler than beating the Nets would have been to start the season. The Knicks were not flawless tonight but they played aggressive, were tough on D and hit about a thousand three pointers. Everyone predicted tonight would be a blowout but no one thought it would be one for the Knicks and I guess that is why you play the game.  Here are my thoughts on tonight:

  • This is why it is nice to have actual point guards. The triple headed monster of Felton-Kidd-Prigi looked real good tonight.
  • Dwayne Wade said tonight’s game should not have been played and apparently in honor of that statement Miami took the night off.
  • Carmelo was awesome then not awesome and then awesome again. I feel like Carmelo is going to drive me crazy all season but I loved the fact that he had energy and actually tried on defense.
  • JR Smith was not awesome. At some points it seemed like he was having a contest with Carmelo to see who could take a more ill-advised shot.
  • I don’t know about you but I sure missed Amare’s lack of defense and lane clogging on offense.  Continue reading

Some thoughts on Game 5

  • I’m not sure if Jeremy Lin was able to play or not, but 85% sounds like he could have.  Chandler played with the flu, Amar’e played with half his hand stapled together, Jeffries couldn’t even walk, Bibby died 3 years ago and you couldn’t play 10 minutes?  It’s not like it would kill his market value, he can’t make more than 5M next year so one bad game wouldn’t have done anything.
  • I hate that we had so many injuries but loved how much heart most (not you Lin) of the players showed even though we were terribly outmatched.
  • Mike Woodson couldn’t try zone even once?  Did we make any adjustments this series other than to cut Novaks minutes?
  • Novak needs to learn to shoot off the screen.
  • Fields….you look so good sometimes and then you lose the ball on a drive in the 4th to kill what small momentum we had.  Throwing the ball in LeBrons face was fun to watch.
  • Just Ridiculous Smith – I know he is a streaky shooter, but I didn’t know the streak went from mediocre to abysmal.
  • Miami fans are the worst.  We saw the shirts on the empty chairs.  Also, learn ONE other chant other than LETS GO HEAT.  I swear the only other chant I heard was MVP for LeBron, which they strangly chanted after a ball got thrown in his face.
  • Has there every been a play where Battier on defense or Wade on offense didn’t end up on the floor?  And have either of them ever not been shocked when a foul either wasn’t called on the other team or was called on them?
  • Does Spoestra tell everyone on the team of flop constantly or did they come up with that idea during a players meeting?
  • Can we officially say Amar’e has the worst contract in the NBA or does that one good playoff game negate a season of garbage?
  • I really really miss the old team.  I refuse to believe that if we never did the Melo trade, and signed Chandler we wouldn’t have finished as a 3rd seed this season.
  • Lets go Pacers!

Knicks vs Heat 5/6/12 – Game 4 gamethread

Will this be the last game of the season?  We went a game without losing a player to injury, will we bring that streak to 2?  I’ll start this thread out on a positive note; we weren’t the first team to get eliminated from the playoffs.  Thank you Dallas!

Eastern Conference Midseason Grades

The season is half over so I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at how each team has fared so far and give them mid-season grades.

Let’s start with the Eastern Conference, going in order of current standing.

Miami Heat: A+: The East is as predictable as the West is unpredictable. I don’t think there’s a person on the planet who didn’t think Miami and Chicago would be the top 2 teams. LeBron is having his best season as a professional and has also managed to stay away from twitter, interviews, hour-long specials, and every other way he put his foot in his mouth last season. The supporting cast is much better this year after signing Battier, getting a steal in Norris Cole in the draft, and having a healthy Haslem and Miller. The road to the finals goes through Miami.

Chicago Bulls: A+: Only one game out of first and that’s with Rose missing a bunch of games. It doesn’t seem to matter who replaces Rose, they continued to win with John Lucas III and Mike James at the point. The best defense in the league and a deep bench. We should really just start the east playoffs with the conference finals, Chicago and Miami are so much better than the rest of the conference it’s almost unfair.

Indiana Pacers: A: This year’s most improved team. People barely talked about the David West signing, that was a very underrated move. You won’t seem them on national TV very often, so they’ve been flying under the radar and have quietly moved up to the #3 seed. This is a young team that’s is in a great situation cap-wise. They’ll need that cap space to make a move to put them in the same league with the top two teams in the conference, but even without making a move, as presently constructed they’ll be a tough out for years to come. Episode 107: Don’t worry we mention Jeremy Lin

We talk about the NJ, Atlanta and Miami games.  We propose an Amar’e trade.  We bring back some of our segments including 2 heated minutes, glad we got him in the offseason and he gets paid how much?  Download Episode 107

Episode 100 – Knicks at Miami

We do a live commentary of the Knicks at Miami game.  This is fun even if you didn’t listen live/DVR the game.  We spend most of the time talking about trade scenarios, taking calls, reading emails, and going off on complete tangents like wresting, all time greats, rivalries, and other things going on around the league.

This episode was really long so I had to break it into two parts.
