2016/17 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 17

The Knicks might not be good at basketball, but they’re tops in the league in embarrassment. Since last week we had Oakley get arrested and banned and then unbanned after a meeting with Silver and Jordan. Oh and they played 3 games, losing 2 but somehow beating the Spurs to avoid their first 5 game home losing streak in franchise history.
Rank Player Comments Last weeks Rank
1 Anthony, Carmelo Melo bounced back from his off week, even had a decent game against Kawhi. If Melo’s days are numbered, he’s making the most of it. 2
2 Porzingis, Kristaps It looks like Porzingis is back. And a collective sigh of relief is heard from the entirety of Knicks Nation. 5
3 Lee, Courtney I hear some people bash Lee. Not sure what that’s about. He’s doing what he’s done his whole career, and that’s not a bad thing. 3
4 Hernangomez, Willy Was worried how Willy would look against starting lineups. The answer? Pretty pretty pretty good. Knicks are undefeated when Willy starts. 1
5 O’Quinn, Kyle Really good week for KOQ. I’m pretty comfortable with a Willy/KOQ center rotation going forward. 9
6 Jennings, Brandon Another Jennings stat line: 2-10 with 6 points and 13 assists. 4
7 Holiday, Justin Holiday has really quieted down since his hot start. Mini-slump or regressing to the norm? 7
8 Baker, Ron Hornacek looks like he’s going with a 9 man rotation, and that 9th man is different every game, making the rest of the rankings difficult. Ron looked pretty good in his 20 minutes against the Clippers. 8
9 Kuzminskas, Mindaugas Kuz had 1 bad game and has since been banished to the bench. Short leash for some and extremely long one for others, which brings us to… 6
10 Rose, Derrick On paper Rose had a great week. On paper. There is a reason he had a 20-7-8 line in 37 minutes against the Clips and had a +/- of   -9. He can’t cover anyone. Shocking since last season he was almost last in the NBA by all advanced metrics. Does Phil even look at recent performance or just focus on stats from 5 years ago? 12
11 Vujacic, Sasha Yeah you get back to the bench and you stay there. Don’t you move. You hear me? 11
12 Ndour, Maurice Ndour plays like a guy who knows he won’t see the court again in at least a week. Can’t blame him for trying to do everything in the 3 minutes a week he plays. 10
13 Plumlee, Marshall I think it’s safe to say I’d rather have Marshall on the team than Noah. 14
14 Thomas, Lance Lance came back on Sunday. That’s about all I have to say about that. 15
15 Noah, Joakim Noah has already missed over 25 games. Year 1 and he’s already the worst contract in the NBA. Seriously, what was Phil thinking? 13
