Here is my preview for the Knicks’ Christmas day game. DO NOT WATCH THIS GAME! I cannot emphasis this enough! We (Yes I am a delusional Knicks’ fan, that thinks he is a part of the team and say things like we, us, etc.) are going to get completely destroyed by the Thunders. It will be a complete waste of your time, do not throw away two and a half hours. Do not watch a J.R. Smith led Knicks team (Carmelo Anthony a game time decision due to his sprained ankle) who STILL thinks it is Santa Con. Check this video out, trust me, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Please instead, spend the time enjoying with your family and friends. Or instead spend the time with your new gifts, which hopefully isn’t anything Knicks related. If you do not live in New York, YOU WILL BE RIDICULED for sporting any Knicks gear, as well you should be… WE SUCK! You know if you MUST get your Knicks basketball fix, and I guess you must be glutton for punishment. I recommend watching when the Knicks did anything good….sooo over 40 year ago vintage footage is what I recommend. Get yourself some NBA Dynasty Series – New York Knicks – The Complete History, or here is something more recent.

2013/14 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 9

Two wins and only 1 loss since last weeks power rankings.  So what if the two wins were by the smallest of margins and also to the two worst teams in the league.  It’s Christmas week and I’m trying to stay positive.  I probably won’t stay positive past #2 or 3 on this list but I’ll try my best.

1 Chandler, Tyson Oh how we missed the defense and rebounding and the yelling after dunks.  Would love to see Chandler get more involved in the offense, but after seeing what this team looked like without Tyson there is no denying him the #1 spot this week.  Especially since he didn’t get reinjured after Woodson tried to murder him in the Bucks game by keeping him in for 37 minutes, the last 10 or so of which he was clearly hobbling. 3
2 Anthony, Carmelo Carmelo Anthony hit the 50% mark twice this week!  That’s borderline efficient!  With pretty much everyone on the roster without a last name of Hardaway shooting like it’s the 8th round of a beer pong rec league I can almost understand all the iso.  Of couse he does that when he has shooters around him too so I won’t totally justify the ball hoggery. 1
3 Hardaway Jr., Tim THJ is going on week 3 as the best SG on this team.  Lets keep rolling with Shump and JR though because that strategy makes much more sense than developing a player who already leads all rookies in 3p%, which happens to be a glaring weakness on this team. 2
4 Udrih, Beno I’m already having a ton of trouble with this list.  I guess Beno gets it for his really great game against the Bucks (offensively anyway, he did let Brandon Knight score approx. 357 points), and some decent play against the magic.  He did completely stink against Memphis, but so did pretty much everyone. 11
5 Murry, Toure’ Why is Toure’ Murry so high?  He’s the only player from this point forward that didn’t completely suck in at least 1 game this week and/or get/is injured.  Plus that sick behind the back pass to Hardaway had to bump him up a few spots. Continue reading →

Knicks vs Grizzlies – 12-21-13 – Game Recap

Memphis entered Saturday matinee game against New York on a five game losing streak. New York though plays terrible on matinee games, 0-2 this season in early afternoon games, losing by a combined 72 points! With rumors that Knicks’ players were out partying the nights before those early afternoon games, Mike Woodson played babysitter Friday night, keeping his Knicks team in a hotel. The curfew didn’t help the Knicks, as Memphis got off to a fast start, jumping out to an 8-2 lead, extending this to 17-8 by the 4:24 mark in the first quarter. The Knicks went on a 10-2 run, cutting the deficit to one, 19-18 with a little over two minutes remaining. Carmelo Anthony was in double figures scoring in the first quarter alone, finishing the game with 30 points overall.

New York would go on an 8-0 run bridging from the first quarter to the second quarter. The run was capped off by a Carmelo Anthony steal that lead to a Tim Hardaway Jr. furious fast break dunk, to take a 28-25 lead with 9:16 left in the quarter. Hardaway Jr. provided a spark off the bench, playing 30 minutes scoring 16 points, he was favored over the struggling starting guard Iman Shumpert. The Grizzles played great defense to end the first half, New York converted on only one field goal in the last six minute of the second quarter. The defense led to an 8-2 Grizzles run, to end the first half with a ten point lead 50-40. Madison Square Garden was not happy with the Knicks’ matinee effort, booing the Knicks off the court as the players entered the locker room for intermission. The game was played at Memphis’ pace, a slow grind it out game, the Grizzles beat the Knicks on all the hustle stats in the first half. This trend would continue for Memphis in the second half, helping the Grizzles to a 95-87 victory, to snap their losing streak. Continue reading →

Knicks vs Bucks – 12-18-13 – Game Recap

The Milwaukee Bucks were without their two top scorers Wednesday night, O.J. Mayo did not play because he went home to attend his grandmother’s funeral, and Caron Butler was suffering from a swollen knee. Tyson Chandler made his return to the Knicks from his fractured right fibula injury, which kept him sidelined for six weeks. Chandler’s return was much needed for the Knicks, he brought the defensive energy the Knicks sorely missed, and collected crucial rebounds down the stretch of the game. The Knicks needed everything he gave, 9 points 9 rebounds (5 of it being on the offensive glass) and 3 blocks in 37 minutes of play. With the extended minutes of play from the double overtime, Tyson Chandler suffered from cramps down the stretch. Playing so many minutes, after missing so much time, he had trainers working on the cramps every timeout.

New York won the game 107-101 in double overtime despite themselves, making mental errors down the stretch. Milwaukee jumped out quickly in the first overtime leading by four points, with Khris Middleton knocking down a quick three, scoring 20 points and grabbing 9 rebounds for the game. Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo played great defense on Carmelo Anthony all game, who had 29 points, but it took 29 shots to get it. After Tyson Chandler split a pair of free throws, there was defensive confusion on the Knicks’ coverage, as they let Brandon Knight knocked down an uncontested jump shot, to give the Bucks a four point lead with 3:43 remaining in the first overtime. If anyone should not have been open, it was Brandon Knight, who torched the Knicks all night long, scoring a career high 36 points, including six three pointers. Continue reading →

2013/14 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 8

The Knicks are 2-3 since my last power rankings and two or three players have been injured since then as well.  Who’s hot and who’s not?  Lets find out!

1 Anthony, Carmelo His rebounding has dipped and he apparantly didn’t know that he is allowed to call a timeout, but he’s been scoring efficiently and hasn’t been as big a mess on defense as a lot of guys on this roster.  Who else even remotely deserves the top spot at this point? 1
2 Hardaway Jr., Tim THJ has been the best SG on this team for 2 weeks running yet still sees inconsistent minutes because…Woodson doesn’t like rooks?  At this point there is no reason he shouldn’t be playing ahead of Shump and JR. 4
3 Chandler, Tyson Chandler might make his return tomorrow!  Perfect timing since he now has no one to pass to him. 3
4 Prigioni, Pablo Pablo was doing a much better job at the point than Felton.  The Knicks even had two entire games where the opposing point guard didn’t torch the Knicks (one of which was against Boston and Jordan Crawford is on my fantasy team.  That HAD to be the game where the opposing PG gets shut down?).  Now Pablo has a broken toe so the Knicks will have Udrih, JR, Shump and maybe Chris Smith at PG *sobs* 2
5 Stoudemire, Amar’e Four straight great offensive games before laying a turd against the Wizards sans Nene.  It’s nice having a legitimate 2nd scoring option.  Hopefully this level of play will continue until the next injury. Continue reading →

Knicks vs Wizards – 12-16-13 – Game Recap

John Wall dominated the first half, scoring in double figures in the first quarter alone. John Wall is one of the quickest point guards in the league, and he displayed it Monday night. Wall attacked in the open court, scoring either for himself or getting his teammates involved for 16 first half fast break points. John Wall had 19 points and 5 assist by halftime, and got plenty of help from Martell Webster, as he dropped four threes to compliment Wall penetrating attack into the paint. Martell Webster would fall a couple points of reaching his career high in points, finishing the game with 30 points.

The Knicks could not stop the Wizards, allowing 55.6% field goal, and getting scorched from beyond the arc, for seven three point shots in the first half. The Wizards kept the Knicks in the game, by turning the ball over frequently, with ten turnovers alone just in the second quarter. The extra possessions were much needed for New York, as the Knicks shoot a dismal 31.9% from the field, and was not able to collect much offensive rebounds off so many misses, only collecting five from 32 misses.
