2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 9

The Knicks go 3-1 this week.  In keeping with their trend, no more than 2 or 3 guys are allowed to play really well in any single game.  Fortunately for the Knicks 1 of those guys has been Melo all week, and when Melo plays really well the Knicks have a great chance at winning.

1 Anthony, Carmelo This was an easy call.  Melo shot lights out against the Magic and Bulls.  He didn’t have a great shooting night against the Wolves, but had a season high in assists, 1 shy of a triple double.  The Knicks look like a playoff team when Melo is firing on all cylindars. 1
2 Thomas, Lance What insane world are we living in where Lance Thomas has been the Knicks 2nd best player AND the Knicks won most of the games?  I’m finally convinced, sorry for all the hate Lance.  I’ll add my newly found surplus of hate to the Vujacic section. 4
3 Afflalo, Arron Until the dud against the Magic Arron has been a legit 2nd scoring option next to Melo. It says a lot that the one game this week he couldn’t get it going was the 1 game the Knicks lost. 2
4 O’Quinn, Kyle The basketball gods giveth and the basketball gods taketh away.  O’Quinn was becoming a really key part of the bench until he was held out of the Magic game with an undesclosed ankle injury.  When the Knicks don’t disclose an injury it usually means something bad.  Kyle is probably getting his foot amputated. 3
5 Galloway, Langston Looks like Galloway is slowly coming out of his slump, giving the backcourt some much needed support.  And the better Langston plays, the less we have to see of Sasha. Continue reading

2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 6

Three games and three losses.  The Rockets game was tough, that should have been a win.  The most important thing now is to not lose Wednesdays game against the 0-18 76ers.  Everyone is going to be ranked 14th next week if that happens.

1 Porzingis, Kristaps Porzingis led the team in scoring against Miami with 11 points….gross.  On a more positive note, other than getting dunked on, Kristaps looked as good or better than Howard for most of the game. 1
2 Afflalo, Arron It’s too bad Afflalos 31 point game ended up in an overtime loss, but it was reassuring knowing that the Knicks have some actual scorers around Melo for a change. 3
3 Anthony, Carmelo A nice game against the Magic was followed up by a turd against the Heat and DNP-??? Against the Rockets.  Not the best of weeks for our superstar. 2
4 Seraphin, Kevin Two straight nice games for Seraphin.  Is it a rule that that Knicks can’t have more than 1 or 2 bench guys playing well at one time? 8
5 Calderon, Jose Calderon has looked much better since the beginning of the season, but 0 assists against the Heat in 25 minutes?  Come on. Continue reading

2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 21

I got to the power rankings a day late this week so this will be for 5 games, with two wins including an overtime win against the Spurs.  While watching the Knicks win last night was fun, it makes the back to back against the 76ers and the Twolves two very important games in the tank race.

1 Shved, Alexey Shved has been getting to the line more than any other Knick, he’s been rebounding, passing, he even hit a bunch of 3’s.  This has been the easiest pick for #1 in months. 2
2 Galloway, Langston A PG who plays defense?!?! Yes please.  He may be coming out of his shooting slump as well, which is nice. 5
3 Bargnani, Andrea Is there a rule that only 1-2 players at a time can shoot well for the Knicks?  As soon as Galloway hits some shots, Bargs starts missing. 1
4 Amundson, Lou Lou might have been lower on the list had I done the rankings before last nights game, but I can’t argue with 17 rebounds. 4
5 Aldrich, Cole He doesn’t do much else but man can Cole rebound. Continue reading
