Another 3-1 week with the only loss coming in a game that Porzingis (get well VERY soon) missed. The Knicks also came back from double digits to win in back to back games for the first time in franchise history, which is a lot more fun than the fake comebacks we saw in previous years.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Porzingis, Kristaps | Against the Pacers Porzingis had 40 points on 24 shot attempts with 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. A stat line Melo wouldn’t have even in the wettest of dreams. | 1 |
2 | Kanter, Enes | Kanter looks like he’s improving on defense. He’s got a long way to go but he looks like he’s putting in effort and getting some stops. Very good news for the Knicks. | 2 |
3 | Hardaway Jr., Tim | With Porzingis out Timmy stepped up with a nice 26 and 11 game. He’s been very inconsistent with his shot but at least he’s contributing in other ways. He’s more than doubling his average in assists, rebounds, and steals than he did his first time with the Knicks. | 8 |
4 | Ntilikina, Frank | Over the last 3 games Frank is averaging 8 assists per game while playing some of the best defense on the team. He’s only 19. Be excited. | 5 |
5 | O’Quinn, Kyle | I think it’s fair to say KOQ has one of the best contracts in the league. | 4 |
6 | McDermott, Doug | McDermott felt like a throw in with the Melo trade, but he’s now a key part of the Knicks bench. | 7 |
7 | Lee, Courtney | Lee hasn’t been bad this week, but a number of his teammates have played better. | 3 |
8 | Thomas, Lance | Lance had a +/- of +58 in over the last 4 games. Impressive but not quite ready for a Lance apology episode yet. | 13 |
9 | Jack, Jarrett | Just goes to show how this team is playing right now. Jack had a decent week and is still ranked 9th. | 6 |
10 | Dotson, Damyean | I think we’ll see more Dotson when coach realizes that the Beasley experiment isn’t working. | 9 |
11 | Beasley, Michael | With Porzingis out it was time for Beasley to step up and show what he’s got. Except that didn’t happen. | 11 |
12 | Baker, Ron | I was pretty high on Baker a few weeks ago and now I can’t see where he gets minutes. | 12 |
13 | Hernangomez, Willy | In the limited time we’ve seen Willy it looks like he does the same things as O’Quinn only worse. | 10 |
14 | Sessions, Ramon | At this point Ramon’s official position is injury insurance. | 14 |
15 | Kuzminskas, Mindaugas | The Knicks are looking to trade Kuz. Probably should have started that process a few games ago. Everyone knows he’s getting waived by the end of the weekend to make room for Noah. | 15 |
16 | Noah, Joakim | I mentioned above KOQ might have the best contract in the league. If you don’t count Chandler Parsons the Knicks might have the best and the worst contract on their roster. | 16 |

2017/18 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 1
The first player rankings for the season. There are a lot of new faces. Again. Let’s see if we can sort this out.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Porzingis, Kristaps | The best player on the team by a mile. I’m not worried about his talent level, but health is definitely a concern. | – |
2 | Hardaway Jr., Tim | A guy the Knicks fanbase practically chased out with pitchforks is one of the best players on the team 2 short seasons later. Will he be grossly overpaid or just slightly overpaid? | – |
3 | Kanter, Enes | This list is already difficult to put together. Could #3 on this list really be someone who is an absolute liability on defense? At least he has elite level offense. The Knicks will definitely be looking to outscore teams this season. | – |
4 | Lee, Courtney | One of the few guys who can play defense on this team. Which means he’ll probably be traded by all star break. | – |
5 | Hernangomez, Willy | Hoping (B)Willing can make a mini-leap this season. The better he is the less we have to watch Noah drag his corpse up and down the court. | – Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 20
The Knicks are back down to 14 as Jimmer ends his 10 day contract averaging 50 points per 36 minutes. It looks like the Knicks are going to use that final spot on Tony Wroten, who is coming off an injury and most likely won’t play the rest of the season, so that really helps our guard situation. Anyway, one win and two losses since last week, lets see if I can sort out this mess.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Anthony, Carmelo | This might have been Melos beat week of the season. I am a little disturbed Rambis finds it necessary to play Melo 40+ minutes on back to back nights. If he breaks Melo we might not win another game, and we’re on pace to win at least 2 more! | 2 |
2 | Afflalo, Arron | Afflalo had a really great week. Now that my expectations are up I’m fully expecting an absolutely terrible week coming up very soon. | 9 |
3 | Lopez, Robin | Lopez has been one of the only consistently positive things about this season. | 3 |
4 | Porzingis, Kristaps | Porzingis went from good against Portland to not so good against the Celtics, to injured for the Pistons game. Not one of his better weeks. He also ended his streak of eastern conference rookie of the month awards, losing out to Myles Turner. | 1 |
5 | O’Quinn, Kyle | Congrats to Kyle for being the least terrible guy on the Knicks bench! | 10 Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 18
I included the Wizards game in this weeks rankings since doing a rankings on 1 game would be dumb. So now we get to add two losses and a win to that Wizards game. The Knicks added Jimmer, which sadly enough is the only bright spot. The team looks demoralized and the playoffs look like a pipe dream. Here’s your damn rankings.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo is looking really frustrated lately. You can imagine why. He’s playing really well lately, assisting at a career high rate and .1 rebounds away from a career high rebound rate, but most of the team, as usual, stinks. | 4 |
2 | Lopez, Robin | The last two games Robin has looked crazy good. It’s amazing what happens when you get your center involved on the offensive end, something Chandler never got to experience. | 1 |
3 | Porzingis, Kristaps | The shot is still up and down and now the rebounding has come down a bit, but Porzingis is clearly the 3rd best player on this team. | 2 |
4 | Galloway, Langston | I’m trying to forget about his zero point performance against the Raptors (1 of 3 Knicks guards to do that on the same night!). At least he can defend, something the rest of the backcourt can’t claim. | 5 |
5 | Thomas, Lance | Lance didn’t get zero points against the Raptors, but he did against the Nets on 0-5 shooting. That’s still good enough for a top 5 spot this week. That’s how bad this team has been. Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 15
This is the first week this season in which the Knicks have a full roster of 15, after signing Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Other than that, this week was pretty much what you’d expect; losses to Toronto and OKC and a win against the wretched Suns. This is a hard week to rank and no one really played particularly well in the two losses.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Anthony, Carmelo | After sitting out against Toronto, Melo came back with back to back double doubles, and was 2 assists shy of a triple double against the Suns. | 1 |
2 | Galloway, Langston | Solid week for Langston in Calderons absense. Shooting is erratic, but defense and ball movement have been decent. | 8 |
3 | Lopez, Robin | Consistently one of the best +/- on the team. Odd that he only plays 24mpg. | 3 |
4 | Porzingis, Kristaps | We learned this week that Porzingis is a lot slower than Dramond Green. A LOT. | 2 |
5 | Afflalo, Arron | How can Afflalo look so good some games and so completely terrible in others? Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 13
The Knicks went 2-2 this week. That’s OK, but losing to Brooklyn and needing double overtime to beat the ’76ers isn’t good. I guess it could have been worse, and there were some nice performances in Melo’s 2 game absence.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Afflalo, Arron | 3 really nice games for Arron this week. We’ll ignore the Grizzlies game. The Knicks win almost every time Arron scores over 20 points. | 2 |
2 | Porzingis, Kristaps | Porzingis has had good shooting nights more often than not lately. It looks like stamina is the only thing holding him back, which is understandable since he has already played more minutes than all of last season. | 3 |
3 | Anthony, Carmelo | If anyone was wondering just how important Melo is to this team, the Nets game should be a good indication. The Knicks can’t even beat the dregs of the league without Melo. | 1 |
4 | Williams, Derrick | Williams was one of the only guys who showed against Brooklyn. Not sure why his minutes fluctuate so much (defense? Shot selection?) but he puts up great numbers when he plays more than 20. | 5 |
5 | Lopez, Robin | I still can’t figure out why sometimes Robin looks like he has some offense and sometimes he looks like Dennis Rodman on offense. Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 9
The Knicks go 3-1 this week. In keeping with their trend, no more than 2 or 3 guys are allowed to play really well in any single game. Fortunately for the Knicks 1 of those guys has been Melo all week, and when Melo plays really well the Knicks have a great chance at winning.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Anthony, Carmelo | This was an easy call. Melo shot lights out against the Magic and Bulls. He didn’t have a great shooting night against the Wolves, but had a season high in assists, 1 shy of a triple double. The Knicks look like a playoff team when Melo is firing on all cylindars. | 1 |
2 | Thomas, Lance | What insane world are we living in where Lance Thomas has been the Knicks 2nd best player AND the Knicks won most of the games? I’m finally convinced, sorry for all the hate Lance. I’ll add my newly found surplus of hate to the Vujacic section. | 4 |
3 | Afflalo, Arron | Until the dud against the Magic Arron has been a legit 2nd scoring option next to Melo. It says a lot that the one game this week he couldn’t get it going was the 1 game the Knicks lost. | 2 |
4 | O’Quinn, Kyle | The basketball gods giveth and the basketball gods taketh away. O’Quinn was becoming a really key part of the bench until he was held out of the Magic game with an undesclosed ankle injury. When the Knicks don’t disclose an injury it usually means something bad. Kyle is probably getting his foot amputated. | 3 |
5 | Galloway, Langston | Looks like Galloway is slowly coming out of his slump, giving the backcourt some much needed support. And the better Langston plays, the less we have to see of Sasha. Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 8
An up a down week. There was the Utah game where the Knicks got spanked, the Kings game that the Knicks should have won, and the Portland game where they finally did win. A lot of shake ups in the rankings this week as Porzingis terrible week gets him dethroned, and O’Quinn gets out of the doghouse and shoots up the standings.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Anthony, Carmelo | Yeah he was bad in Utah, but who wasn’t. Melo was crazy good in Portland with arguably his best outing of the season. Lets hope we see more games like that. | 3 |
2 | Afflalo, Arron | It’s nice having another scoring option, Afflalo hasn’t been amazing, but he’s been fairly reliable and consistent, something no one else on the team currently has. | 2 |
3 | O’Quinn, Kyle | I don’t know what to make of this, KOQ had a great week, grabbed a ton of boards, and even had a 7-8 night against Portland. Why does Fisher bench him for weeks at a time? | 13 |
4 | Thomas, Lance | Never thought I’d ever put Thomas this high. Does this count as my apology? | 7 |
5 | Vujacic, Sasha | This is like the bizarro standings. I still think we’d be better off if Sasha were in a suit, but I can’t deny how good he was this week. Sasha almost led a comeback in Utah after a no show by the starters. Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 7
The Knicks went 2-2 this week, beating 2 absolutely terrible teams, and losing to 2 decent teams. Although the Bucks aren’t nearly as good as the Knicks made them look. Fisher seems to finally be getting the rotation down to 10 guys which makes my life easier.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Porzingis, Kristaps | Porzingis was the best player on the Knicks for 3 of the 4 games this week. If only we had a max level super star to help him out. | 1 |
2 | Afflalo, Arron | His 3 point shot hasn’t been there, but he’s shooting well from everywhere else on the court, rebounding, and playing defense. I’ll take it. | 2 |
3 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo did have a season high in assists (8) against the Mavs, but he’s been shooting 33% for too often to even consider moving him higher on this list. | 3 |
4 | Calderon, Jose | Look who’s back from the dead! I almost forgot what it’s like having a PG do point guardy things. | 5 |
5 | Seraphin, Kevin | Seraphin asked Fisher how he could get more playing time and Fisher said play better defense. Since then Seraphin has been the most consistant player on the Knicks bench. Continue reading |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 5
3 wins this week, bringing the win streak to 4 games! I’m of course pretending the Miami game didn’t happen. Those aren’t the Knicks I watched for the first 14 games of the season. Those were a bunch of jokers who didn’t play defense and couldn’t shoot.
Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
1 | Porzingis, Kristaps | It took a whole 5 weeks before our young, too skinny, multi-year project claimed the #1 spot. Zingis arguably outplayed our superstar Melo in 3 of the 4 games this week, including a 29 point game and a 7 block game (both tops among rookies this season). | 2 |
2 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo has been alright this week. Not the untradable superstar I keep hearing about, but decent. His assists are back down, 5 over the course of the last 3 games, and his shot is still streaky. Basically classic Melo, very good but leaves you wanting more. | 1 |
3 | Afflalo, Arron | Afflalo is a legit starting SG, but not one of the best SG’s in the league. He is, however, probably the best SG the Knicks have had since Starks. That’s depressing. | 3 |
4 | Calderon, Jose | The Knicks go as Calderon goes. He played well in our 3 wins and bad in the 1 loss. | 5 |
5 | Galloway, Langston | For the first 3 weeks I thought we had a deep bench, now it looks like Galloway and whatever random guy ends up playing well for 1 night. Continue reading |
