| The Knicks went 2-1 this week which is their 2nd winning week in a row. Great news if you like meaningless wins, not so great if you are rooting for a top 3 draft pick. One more week until the all-star game after which Melo will hopefully shut it down and the Knicks will get the tank back on track. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo shot 52% against the Lakers. It’s rare when Melo has a good shooting night but he was able to do that and hurt our draft position on the same day. What an awesome brand he’s building! | 1 |
| 2 | Calderon, Jose | Look who learned to get assists again! A slightly less washed up looking PG makes a huge difference on this team. | 6 |
| 3 | Amundson, Lou | I wonder what the teams record would have been last year if everyone tried as hard as Lou does every night. | 7 |
| 4 | Smith, Jason | Smith has looked like an actual NBA player lately. I don’t know what to make of that. | 9 |
| 5 | Galloway, Langston | The shooting is still bad and he doesn’t assist very much, but the defense and rebounding is still solid. Continue reading | |

2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 13
| For the first time in 5 weeks the Knicks have won a game, going 1 and 1 this week. I hope they got the winning out of their system. We’re in tank more and this is a tough week for tanking with Philly, Orlando, and Charlotte coming up. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | I’m torn, do I give Melo the #1 spot because he played great or penalize him for getting us a win when we’re trying to tank? | 11 |
| 2 | Calderon, Jose | Literally no one else on this roster put together two really good games so *pulls name out of a hat* congrats Jose, you had your monthly good game against Milwaukee and it earned you the #2 spot this week. | 9 |
| 3 | Galloway, Langston | Going with the trend of having 1 good game, Galloway went off against the Pelicans. Hardaway should be very nervous, Galloway will be taking Hardaway and Priggys minutes going forward. | 3 |
| 4 | Amundson, Lou | Lou has a terrible shot but he knows that so he mostly just gets rebounds and blocks, which are things our other big men don’t really do. | 13 |
| 5 | Smith, Jason | The fact that Jason Smith has the 5th best week on this team goes a long way in explaining the 6-36 record. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 12
| These rankings are being posted on the 1 month anniversary of the Knicks winning a game. They have now lost 25 of the last 26 games. Just to put this season in perspective; Philly, a team that is trying to lose as much as possible has won 7 games in that same span of time. At least we can get excited about Langston Galloway. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Larkin, Shane | Shane was the most consistant player on the Knicks this week and by that I mean the only consistant player. | 5 |
| 2 | Wear, Travis | If you are wondering how it’s possible that the Knicks are this bad just take a look at this top 5. That should help put things in perspective. | 7 |
| 3 | Galloway, Langston | Not a bad first week on the job. From the D-league to a top 3 player on the team. | N/A |
| 4 | Acy, Quincy | How come Acy can hit 3 point shots now but can’t seem to hit 10 foot ones? | 1 |
| 5 | Early, Cleanthony | Early is still very raw but has shown enough flashes of good play to get me excited for his development. Then I remembered the Knicks don’t develop players so I hope he has a long and great career for whatever team the Knicks trade him to in a year or two. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 11
| Well that was a surprise. Last night the Knicks traded JR Smith and Iman Shumpert for Lance Thomas, Alex Kirk, and Lou Amundson and waived Sam Dalembert. Philly won so the Knicks are officially in 30th. Or 1st if you are rooting for the best chance at that #1 pick. The tank is in full effect! | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Acy, Quincy | Acy gets the #1 spot solely for last nights game. 87% shooting. 2 three pointers. 14 rebounds. Team high 19 points. What? | 9 |
| 2 | Aldrich, Cole | Cole was on a roll until the Memphis game. It was fun while it lasted. At least we don’t have to worry about Dalembert taking his minutes anymore. | 2 |
| 3 | Prigioni, Pablo | I could put any of our 3 PGs in the 3-5 spots, they are all of equal talent right now. And by equal talent I mean somewhere in the high 20’s or low 30’s as far as best PG’s in the league. | 4 |
| 4 | Calderon, Jose | Remember when Calderon wasn’t washed up? One of these days the Knicks will aquire a player BEFORE he’s past his prime. | 3 |
| 5 | Larkin, Shane | I was about to write how this team is composed of shooters who can’t shoot and PG’s who can’t pass and then Shane ruins it by getting 8 assists against Memphis. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 10
| I didn’t show up for week 9 of the power rankings but that’s OK because neither did the Knicks. This weeks power rankings will include the last 6 losses…er…games…same thing at this point I guess. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | His knee is really really hurting so in the 4 complete games he plays he played for 40, 38, 43, and 46 minutes. He then couldn’t even come out after halftime last game. I know Melo is against the idea of tanking and wants to be out there, but the team is 5-28, the knee is getting worse and there are 4 years left on this ridiculous contract. Get the knee fixed and come back 100% next season. | 1 |
| 2 | Aldrich, Cole | Great week from Cole. One game he shoots 8-9 and the next night he has 19 boards. He’s not intimidating protecting the rim, but I still think he does a better job than Sam (I should retire soon) Dalembert. | 10 |
| 3 | Calderon, Jose | Ball movement and passing are a huge plus, the +/- is a huge negative. He’s an OK starting PG, but I’m worried about having him as the #1 PG option for the next 2 years. | 2 |
| 4 | Prigioni, Pablo | His shooting has been off and it looked like he had an eff you game jacking up threes last game, but he still assists and a higher clip than anyone else on this team. | 3 |
| 5 | Larkin, Shane | Good thing Shane plays defense, because he’s not very good on offense. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 6
| Another week of nothing but losses. Some of those losses were almost not losses so…yeah. And what’s with other teams stars being injured for weeks, only to come back against the Knicks and destroy them? It’s going to be real hard ranking these clowns this week. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Calderon, Jose | Yeah he didn’t play well against the Thunder but no one did. 7 3’s against Dallas and 10 boards against Miami give me more positive things to say about Jose than anyone else on this list. | 9 |
| 2 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo missed 2 games with back spasms but looked pretty good against the Heat. I bet he’d look even better if opposing defenses had to pay attention to anyone else other than Melo and Amare. | 1 |
| 3 | Wear, Travis | Wear was the only Knicks with a positive +/- in all 3 games this week. By all means only play him 10-12 minutes a game. | 3 |
| 4 | Acy, Quincy | Quincy isn’t this high because I think he’s good. It’s just that everyone else below him is playing way below expectations while Quincy gets a few boards and does his best to not be terrible, and for the most part he’s succeeded. | 4 |
| 5 | Larkin, Shane | Shan is pretty much in the same boat as Quincy. He’s not doing anything particularly great but he’s not making me scream, drink, and throw things at the tv while watching him. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 4
| The Knicks almost went 2 weeks without a win. After a quick start where Denver hit 237 open 3’s they remembered they totally suck and ended up getting blown out. Things aren’t very good right now but I’ll try and find a few positives in this weeks rankings. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo had an insane week and I’m now convinced that the Knicks would be completely incapable of winning any games should Melo go down. | 4 |
| 2 | Smith, J.R. | JR played really well during an early Sunday game. This may never happen ever again so I’m rewarding him with the #2 spot this week. Kudos for not being hungover on a Sunday morning! | 8 |
| 3 | Dalembert, Samuel | Dalembert was the 3rd best player on the Knicks this week. In related news the Knicks are 3-9. | 5 |
| 4 | Acy, Quincy | Acy did a good job of not being terrible this week. I’d still rather see him come in off the bench but Fisher needs a few more years of data to figure out Melo is better at the 4. | 10 |
| 5 | Larkin, Shane | I’d love to see our point guard get some assists. I mean he got some, but more than 2 would be nice. Did Calderon die? Where is this guy? Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 3
| Last week I wrote about how excited I was about this team. What a difference 7 days and 5 straight losses makes. On the plus side the Knicks have their own draft pick this year. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Shumpert, Iman | Shumpert has been the Knicks best player so far this season. He shot .500 or better in 4 of the last 5 games and seems to have developed a 3 point shot. My one criticism is he seems too hyper on defense. He gets some dumb fouls and has a habit of trying to cover whoever had the ball. For example, leaving Korver open at the 3 point line to double team Antic in the post is not a great decision. | 2 |
| 2 | Larkin, Shane | For a backup point guard forced into a starting point guard position Shane has been doing OK. His numbers won’t blow you away but he doesn’t turn the ball over very much and he plays defense. Two things Felton did not do last last season. | 3 |
| 3 | Stoudemire, Amar’e | Amare has been rebounding like a madman this week. He hasn’t been scoring a ton but he’s been scoring efficiently. His defense is still a complete mess but at this point I think we’re seeing best case scenario Amare. | 5 |
| 4 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo is here by default because no one played better. But if he has 1 more 25% shooting night while taking over 20 shots I’m dropping him down to 10th. He did look better when playing PF, you know, the position we have massive amounts of data showing he’s better at. Let’s keep playing him at the SF position though. | 1 |
| 5 | Dalembert, Samuel | Fisher seems to only want to play Samuel in certain types of matchups, but when Sam does play he does a decent job. Decent: enough to get you the #5 spot on the Knicks roster! Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 1
| The season starts for the Knicks today so lets take a look at the first addition of this years Knicks roster power rankings! 7 new faces this season and since no games have been played this week is just going on gut instinct and what I saw in preseason. I’m in a good mood so this will probably be the most upbeat rankings you’ll see all season. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | He’s the best player on the team by a very large margin. I’m hoping to see more passing and less iso plays now that the Knicks have an actual system. He’s also going to have to play acceptable D for the Knicks to make the playoffs, which he is definitely capable of. | – |
| 2 | Stoudemire, Amar’e | Amare looked good in the preseason on offense. Maybe taking baths in red wine actually helped. Hopefully he’ll continue to look good on offense, having another scorer on the floor should result in more ball movement. | – |
| 3 | Smith, J.R. | I’m not sure if JR should be this high, but if you just look at talent he’s a top 3 player on this team. No clue if he’ll behave or not but I think we’ll know after the 1st quarter of the first Sunday noon game. | – |
| 4 | Shumpert, Iman | It’s year 3 of getting excited for the leap Shump is about to make. Lets hope it actually happens this year. He’s up this high for being the only player in the top 10 that can actually play defense. | – |
| 5 | Calderon, Jose | A real point guard. An actual real point guard! He’s 32 and bad at defense and still our best point guard since that one good season Marbury had. | – |
| 6 | Hardaway Jr., Tim | If only we can make a frankenstein combo of Hardaway’s offense, JR’s athleticism and Shumperts defense. I’m not expecting THJ to be good on defense but not being the absolute worst would be great. | – |
| 7 | Dalembert, Samuel | Dalembert looks like he can clog up the middle a little bit. I’m not super impressed but I don’t think there will be any days where I’m mad at him either. | – |
| 8 | Acy, Quincy | Oof, these rankings are getting real tough already. Acy had a nice dunk in preseason and he has a cool beard. Apparently that’s good enough for #8 on this list. | – |
| 9 | Larkin, Shane | Not sure what to make of Larkin yet. He’s super fast, but in preseason I didn’t see too much other than running around really quickly. | – |
| 10 | Prigioni, Pablo | I love Pablo but I have a feeling he’s not going to play unless there are 1 or 2 injuries. | – |
| 11 | Smith, Jason | The Knicks sure do have a lot of big guys who can shoot midrange jumpers and not do much else. | – |
| 12 | Bargnani, Andrea | Bargs is already injured. I have a feeling he’s going to be a resident bottom 5 in these rankings. | – |
| 13 | Aldrich, Cole | Phil already said Cole isn’t going to play unless there are a lot of injuries. Not sure why, he seems just as capable as Smith and Bargs. Of course knowing the Knicks injury history he’ll be starting by January so it won’t be an issue. | – |
| 14 | Early, Cleanthony | Early is a lot more raw than I thought. If the Knicks fall out of the playoff picture I’d love to see him get a lot of run as he’s one of a total of 3 guys on this roster than can actually defend. | – |
| 15 | Wear, Travis | Glad Travis made the team, he impressed me in preseason. It looks like he’ll be spending most of his time in Westchester so I’ll leave him down here until/unless he plays in actual NBA games. | – |
