| Pretty decent week. The Knicks went 2-2, were .1 seconds away from beating the Hornets and were in control of the Cavs game until that terrible 4th quarter. Melo is finally playing well and Afflalo is back in the lineup. Fishers 11 man rotation makes these rankings pretty difficult. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | Melo scored 25 or more in all 4 games, and is assisting more than our starting PG. That sounds impressive until you realize our starting PG is assisting at a rate of about 3.5 APG. | 3 |
| 2 | Porzingis, Kristaps | The shot is still not falling, which is frustrating, be he’s doing everything else right. 15 rebounds and an (almost) game winner against the Hornets, and his fouls are way down. I’ll take it. | 2 |
| 3 | Afflalo, Arron | A shooting guard who can kinda sorta shoot! He’s not going to single handedly take over games, but he’s looked good in his first week back and more importantly is taking Vujacics minutes. | 14 |
| 4 | Galloway, Langston | An off week for Galloway, but still our most consitent bench option. | 1 |
| 5 | Calderon, Jose | Maybe lowering Calderons minutes to around 22 per game was the secret. He’s hitting shots and every once in a while covering opposing players. Continue reading | |

2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 2
| Considering the tough opening schedule, I’d say 2-2 is a nice start. The flaws in the roster are already becoming apparent. We mentioned the backcourt was a problem and oh boy is it. Jerian Grant leads the team in assists with 3.8. In case you are new to stats, that is not good. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | 1 good game and 3 shooting performances that would make Kobe cringe. If he wasn’t getting to the line and if he weren’t 2nd on the team in assists I’d already have lowered him in the rankings. | 1 |
| 2 | Galloway, Langston | I mentioned last week that Galloway was a keeper if he could find his shot. Well look who just went 9-12 from the 3 last week! | 5 |
| 3 | Grant, Jerian | He plays defense, hits some shots and has the two highest assist games of the season for the Knicks at 7 and 5. Kind of the opposite of our starting PG. | 4 |
| 4 | O’Quinn, Kyle | Tied for 8th on the team in minutes played but 2nd in rebounds. He’s a high energy guy like Acy was last year, only good. | 3 |
| 5 | Lopez, Robin | Solid defense, decent on offense, would like to see more rebounds though. Continue reading | |
2015/16 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 1
| Happy first day of the season day. As usual there are a lot of new faces this season (8), and this opening day roster only has 3 guys from last seasons opening day roster (probably a good thing). Since the Knicks haven’t played yet this is most likely going to be the most positive rankings you’ll see this season. This weeks rankings is based on the preseason, expectations for the regular season, and gut instinct. Lets get to it! | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | He’s the best player on the team and it’s not even close. Melo looks fully healthy and ready to post 20-25 points per game. His defense and shooting percentage are things to keep an eye on. | – |
| 2 | Lopez, Robin | A center! A real center that does centery things! We started last season with Dalembert who just got cut by Dallas for being fat. I’d say this is a huge upgrade. | – |
| 3 | O’Quinn, Kyle | Last year Acy had the #3 spot at one point. A high energy guy that can rebound. Kyle, please be better than Acy! | – |
| 4 | Grant, Jerian | Our backup point guard until Calderon gets injured or just turns into dust. Lots of potential for this guy. I’m getting hyped. | – |
| 5 | Galloway, Langston | Galloway is already a nice defender and rebounder. If he can work on his shot he’ll be a keeper. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 18
| Melo shut it down. He wasn’t resting for the all star game. It was a huge cooincidence that he took off the game before and got surgery two days after. Pablo Prigioni was traded and Alexey Shved joins the team. I don’t think we should be asking ‘will the Knicks win another game this season’. We should be asking ‘will the Knicks cover the spread in any game for the rest of the season’. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Galloway, Langston | Langston ended his one game good shooting streak against the Cavs but got some rebounds and assists to kinda sorta make up for it. Good enough for the #1 spot. | 5 |
| 2 | Calderon, Jose | Seriously, no one on the team can string together two good games in a row. Jose looked good against Miami…on offense at least. Playing well on one end of the court for 1 game in a row is good enough for the #2 spot. | 2 |
| 3 | Bargnani, Andrea | Yup, the 3 best players this week were a d-leaguer, a guy who is 33 but plays like he’s 38, and Bargnani. That dunk alone would have gotten Bargs into the top 3. | 13 |
| 4 | Wear, Travis | As predicted, Wear benefits from Melo shutting it down and made the most of it. A pretty solid week from Wear. | 14 |
| 5 | Acy, Quincy | Is that what I think it is? Yes! A Quincy Acy sighting. There were a whole bunch of random, not very good players that were unchained from the bench after the departure of Amare and Melo. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 14
| With the Kings game being postponed due to snow the Knicks have their first above .500 week since…week 2. Those worried about the winning streak effecting their tank job should realize the Knicks can’t beat anyone without Melo and he’ll most likely be shutting it down after the all star game which is in 2 1/2 weeks. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | If he wasn’t rebounding and getting a few assists he wouldn’t be this high because his shooting has been off. He’s been making up for it by getting to the line and grabbing boards. Not sure why he’s playing over 40 minutes a game, it seems kind of insane to me. | 1 |
| 2 | Thomas, Lance | Every week it seems some random player on the Knicks shoots into the top 3. Lance earned it this week with a great game against the Magic and a strong showing in his first start as a Knicks against the Hornets. | 8 |
| 3 | Galloway, Langston | Galloway has the confidence of a guy who has been in the league more than a month. I’m starting to think he has potential to be a solid backup PG next year. | 3 |
| 4 | Aldrich, Cole | Coles rebound rate is insant. Might be because no one else on the team can do it, but I’m still impressed. | 10 |
| 5 | Hardaway Jr., Tim | Oh. My. God. THJ shot over .500 last game! Huzzah! He even got some rebounds and assists. Yes it was against a bad team missing one of their best players but still! Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 8
| The Knicks 1 game winning streak was snapped on Sunday against the Raptors. Their idea to troll us and play Landry Fields 23 almost backfired as it took an overtime period to get the W. The Knicks were able to beat the Celtics after losing to the Spurs even though the Spurs fielded a starting lineup of an accountant, the water boy, a wet towel, and Tim Duncans mom. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | Less than 3 hours after Fisher said he wanted to cut Melo’s minutes down Melo plays 44 minutes. He played well after sitting out against the Spurs, but if that knee is going to need surgery shouldn’t Melo get it now so he’s 100% for next season? | 8 |
| 2 | Calderon, Jose | Yeah his defense is bad but isn’t it nice having a PG who can pass and shoot? This playing well every other game thing is getting frustrating though. | 7 |
| 3 | Prigioni, Pablo | 9 assists, 5 steals and the only positive +/- on the team against Dallas. | 6 |
| 4 | Acy, Quincy | Acy likes kinda crappy on the court, yet he’s the only player who has a positive +/- almost every night. | 4 |
| 5 | Larkin, Shane | Look who’s back in the rotation. He didn’t do anything particularly great but didn’t look terrible either. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 7
| Had some computer issues to the rankings are a day late this week. That also means an extra game is included in this weeks rankings giving us a record 5 losses to take into consideration for this weeks rankings. The Knicks now have more losses than Philly. I can’t believe after 23 games I was able to type that sentence. We also got to learn that the team hates each other and is falling apart behind the scenes. Good news if you’re are all about the #1 draft pick. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Wear, Travis | No one had a good week this week, but Travis played the least amount of minutes out of the healthy players. That means he was the least detrimental to this team. | 3 |
| 2 | Aldrich, Cole | Cole looked like he was in danger of increased playing time, increasing his chance of sucking, but after playing 18 minutes against the Nets logged 8 minutes in the next 4 games, thus being the 2nd least detrimental to this team. | 13 |
| 3 | Larkin, Shane | Shane is out of the rotation, playing zero minutes against the Blazers and Pelicans, almost guaranteeing his turnovers and points scored against him will decrease. | 5 |
| 4 | Acy, Quincy | This is my 4th week in a row putting Acy at the #4 spot and no one seems to have noticed. Kind of like how opposing teams don’t notice when he’s on the court. | 4 |
| 5 | Stoudemire, Amar’e | I know what you are saying, but STAT got so many boards and pointzzzz!!!! He also led the league in flexing under the basket after a dunk while his opponents get an uncontested layup or basking in the glow of his dunk during the next 3 plays in which he gets 2 turnovers and a foul. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 5
| 4 games and 3 losses this week. At least the Knicks found a way to beat Philly, even if they did almost blow a 20 point lead to one of the worst teams of all time. They also lost to a team who was missing 4 starters and the 1 starter who did play had the flue and a broken wrist and still managed to drop 37 points on the Knicks. Rage. Remember my comment last week about not being able to win without Melo? Well we may find out if that’s true or not this coming week. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | Another highly productive week for Melo, which ended in back spasms. I’m guessing Melo will set a game or two to get healthy for the Knicks playoff push. Playoffs…hahaha. | 1 |
| 2 | Stoudemire, Amar’e | Amare was the only player on this roster other than Melo who was able to string together more than one good game in a row this week. I’m not going to bother bringing up the defense anymore. He’s been scoring and rebounding which is what he needs to do. | 8 |
| 3 | Wear, Travis | Wear was the Knicks best bench player this week. In related news the Knicks are 4-11. | 6 |
| 4 | Acy, Quincy | Quincy isn’t expected to do much other than rebound, and in that regard he doesn’t disappoint. He’s been playing exactly to expectations. | 4 |
| 5 | Prigioni, Pablo | It was just a week ago that I was talking about Priggys slump. Looks like he snapped out of it and might push Larkin out of the rotation if he keeps it up. Continue reading | |
2014/15 Knicks Roster Power Rankings – Week 2
| After the Bulls game I thought I’d be posting a very angry bitter power rankings with week, but after nice wins against the Cavs and Hornets I’m pretty excited about this team. | |||
| Rank | Player | Comments | Last weeks Rank |
| 1 | Anthony, Carmelo | He didn’t play well against the Bulls but no one did. Melo got hit 20,000th point against the Hornets which is a nice milestone to hit. I also love how Fisher is keeping Melo to around 35 minutes, even in close games. Should mean Melo has gas left in the tank to close out games. | 1 |
| 2 | Shumpert, Iman | Not sure when it happened, but Shumert learned how to shoot. This is huge for the Knicks as our trifecta of SG’s were all very one dimensional. Adding a 2nd dimension to his defense is very encouraging. | 4 |
| 3 | Larkin, Shane | Shane gets the 3rd spot for getting thrown into the starting PG position and holding his own. This could have gone much worse, but Shane kept his composure and put up some decent numbers. | 9 |
| 4 | Smith, J.R. | JR has behaved all week! I didn’t see too many turn around fadeaway three point shots. He’s passing as well. I have no faith it’ll last but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts. | 3 |
| 5 | Stoudemire, Amar’e | Continue reading | |
2048-49 NBA Power Rankings
ESPN already beat us to the punch with their power rankings through 2017 so we decided to go ahead and release our 2048-49 NBA Power Rankings.
#30 – Sacramento Kings – The Kings are convinced this is the year that their team of shoot first players with no real position end their 55 year no playoff drought. They are so committed to this style of play that they have eliminated the PG position and threw out their playbook as they’ll only be running iso plays anyway.
#29 – Minnesota Timberwolves – We all know their fate after they recently dropped the Timberwolves nickname and renamed the team the Minnesota Groomers after losing the 7th superstar in row that they groomed before the player went on to win a title elsewhere. It seems like no one since Garnett has been willing to spend more than 4 years in this cold dark hell hole.
#28 – Portland Trailblazers – I mean why in gods name would you spend your number one pick on Greg Oden’s son???
#27 – Houston Rockets – Looks like Houston is sticking to the plan of assembling a team that excels in all 47 advanced stat categories but aren’t actually very good on the court.
#26 – Utah No Jazz – After Utah broke off from the United States in 2030 to form their own Mormon nation things got a little tough for this franchise as the new Mormon nation has banned music, drinking, cheering, and passing. I do like their choice for coach though as there is no coach better prepared for a team that is not allowed to pass than 105 year old Mike Woodson.
#25 – Kansas City Pistons – The players are finally getting used to playing in Kansas City after Detroit was destroyed in the Great Robot Wars of 2042.
#24 – Los Angeles Lakers – Why are the Lakers still paying $45M/year for Kobe just to show up at games? Continue reading
